Great Goat Curry Cook-Off

It started out on Twitter as a bit of good-natured one-up-manship regarding Goat Curry recipes, and before she knew it Jackie M had been challenged to a cook-off for charity. On 10 November 2013, at the iconic L’Atelier Restaurant in Glebe, Jackie faced off against a lawyer (Michael) and a businessman (Craig) for a three-course Goat Curry pop-up lunch for 45 guests. Thanks to the efforts of many individuals and small businesses, Jackie and her fellow competitors not only produced a stunning meal but raised over $5,500 for Down Syndrome NSW. As for the cook-off result? Jackie’s Goat Curry Soup won hands down!

Eat.Drink.Give. Pop-Up

In July 2012 Jackie celebrated her return to the kitchen after a two-month absence with her first-ever pop-up event.  A collaboration with the charity Eat.Drink.Give, Jackie tailored a menu combining Malaysian favourites like Char Kway Teow and Ayam Goreng with more exotic offerings like Sambal Tempoyak Udang (fermented durian sambal with prawns).  The event was a sell-out and part of the proceeds went towards hosting future Eat.Drink.Give dining experiences.

Google HQ Guest Chef

In Oct 2012, Jackie worked with Google’s Sydney headquarters executive kitchen team to design and prepare a Malaysian lunch menu for Google’s 400+ employees. The lunch catered to all dietary needs and Jackie had a great time working with the terrific people that make up Google’s Sydney office. She looks forward to an encore performance in early 2014.
